CHRONICLES OF A HEALING NOSE

To those of you who have been following my blog I am now in the recovery phase of my nose healing don't think that it has been easy, I have been in the house for at least 8 of those 11 days. I'm so glad to return to work on tomorrow, very excited 😜even though I will be on light duty I am not complaining, this could've been worst.  And I still have a ways to go for my nose to be completely healed. I will probably always have a lump in my nose but at least it's not crooked, lol!

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 11

So I got the reports from the ENT doctor on yesterday, no surgery is needed at this time! He is sure that my nose will heal properly on it's on! And now I just have to go see my PCP this afternoon for her to review everything and give me the "all clear" to go back to work.
I spoke to my boss on yesterday and informed her of what's going on and she told me that I will be going back to answering phone and filling prescriptions, lol.

I got the Ok to return to work tomorrow; light-duty for the next 30 days! OH YEAH!!!!

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 6

Thursday April 23, 2015

Today is the 1st day I feel better just minimal pain in my neck back and leg no headache this morning. I'm starting to see me again. There's still some bruising under and around my eyes and the swelling in my nose has gone down, a little way to go. I found a new sore spot under my left armpit! I guess me trying to catch myself I think I pulled a muscle. I managed to go out in public, sunglasses in tow. I went to a Homegoing Service of a dear friend's younger sister; she was the same age as my son. Diabetes. I guess getting rest on yesterday helped (Flexeril to the rescue!) hopefully tomorrow will be even better so I can go pick up my check $$$ and start taking care of business.

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 5

Wednesday April 22, 2015

Today I'm not in a lot of pain, more dull-nagging pain. My head arms & shoulder mostly. My knee hurts most when I'm climbing into bed. I couldn't sleep last night, got a lot on my mind so I took a Flexeril and went to sleep. I just wish I could see the Dr sooner so I can know what will be done. It's very frustrating. My bruising has stopped spreading but not fading yet. That's the downside of being Diabetic Type II, sores/bruises don't heal quickly πŸ™€. I'm just tired of feeling and looking like this!

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 4

Tuesday April 21, 2015

Today I woke up in more pain than usual a really bad headache and my hands were hurting but once I get up I took me an ibuprofen ate breakfast and had my coffee, feeling a little better now I just can't wait for the bruising to go away. The 1st available appointment to see the nose doctor is not until next Monday 27th but they told me to call back to see if they can get me in this week Thursday or Friday. Im yet to remain optimistic. Today I'm going to go out and take my dog for a walk, she misses me. Hubby is great picking up the slack these past few days, I appreciate him so much. So I'm gonna put on my sunglasses and get me some sun, that's is after I speak to an attorney regarding Workmanship Comp and/or Personal Injury liability.
I was just informed by my employer that she does NOT have Workers Comp Insurance and then told me "but you have insurance" I then explained to her that the hospital and E.N.T. Dr asked for her information and that she should be receiving a fax from them. She then said she'll be able to pay me for the days off, that should not be a problem and she'll look for the fax.

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 3

MONDAY APRIL 20TH

When I woke up today, I felt better than yesterday, not as much pain, but I could tell my eyes were swollen. Now they're started to turn red/purple-soon to be black. :-(   So I get up clean my suture and changed the dressing and get my ice pack ready. My neck, arms, hand and knee are still sore but not as bad as yesterday, pain level from 10 to about a 6 today. More hot baths and cold packs. Oh yeah and comfort food! I also called my PCP for the order to see the ENT, hopefully by the end of this week I'll be getting my nose fixed!

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 2

SUNDAY APRIL 19TH

Waking up today was PAINFUL!! It hurt to open my eyes! Almost every part of my body is hurting. My head, neck, arms, hands (I tried to catch myself) my back and my knee, oh yeah I banged it pretty hard.  I was slow to take a look in the mirror, didn't look as bad as I felt. today is definitely a slow-moving day.

CHRONICLES OF A BROKEN NOSE - DAY 1

Saturday April 18, 2015 @ 11:15am, life for my face as I knew it changed......

Working at an Animal Hospital has its ups and downs (pun intended). On this day it was very busy and as I was servicing a patient I had to go into another exam room to retrieve some information. In this exam room was Eli an 111 lb Black Lab, not easy to miss right? As I walked past him, he decided to move and I tripped and fell FACE FIRST into the counter top! (OUCHEY OUCH!) Ambulance was called, there was blood, lots of blood, but I kept talking and yelling to call 911 (didn't want to lose consciousness). I knew something was broken/fractured, I heard it upon impact. When the EMT arrived they were nice and tried to make light of the situation, which I appreciated. Once the Paramedics arrived they stood me up, walked me out to the ambulance and had me sit up for the ride to the hospital. I thought it odd, so I asked " can I lay down" she said "No we don't want  you to swallow blood and our stomachs cannot digest blood which would make you start vomiting and we don't want that since you're already in extreme pain". Oh, learn something new everyday. Once at the hospital, they registered me in and left, I started crying........because I was scared. Scared of not know just how bad it was. My husband arrived about 5 minutes after the Paramedics left, then I really started crying! Well, after a quick exam (the Dr barely touched my nose) and X-Rays my worse fears were confirmed; I had broken my nose but they WOULD NOT be doing anything but a suture of the laceration today, my nose had too much swelling. The Dr came in with the Novacane and sure enough gave me 1 stitch, lol. Afterward the nurse asked when was your last Tentanus shot? Ummm, hummm, 2004 or 5? Wrong answer! Had to take that darn shot and my husband, who had just came back in from stepping out for the stitch, stepped out again! The nerve! After that traumatic scene, I was discharged and told to see my PCP and ENT in the next 4/5 days.
